Tremele was born in Montgomery, AL, but later relocated, spending a portion of his childhood in the Black Belt region of Alabama, an area containing some of the most impoverished counties in the United States. To this day, Perry credits the development of his character to his unique experience of growing up in the small town of Yantley, AL. Although the town had no cell phone signal and the nearest grocery store or source of entertainment meant crossing the state line into Mississippi – it’s residents had a sense of community and pride. His family later moved back to Montgomery where he finished high school at Sidney Lanier.
Perry went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where the Black Student Awareness Committee (BSAC) named him UAB’s Student of the Year, and President of the Student Organization of the Year for his active role as a student leader on campus. Perry attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from UAB and later earned his Doctorate of Juris Prudence degree from Miles Law School.
Tabbed as one of Birmingham’s Top Ten Rising Stars, Perry continues to shine as a pillar of the community through speaking engagements and sharing his knowledge and experiences with youth in both the inner-city and rural communities throughout Alabama. For years, he has served the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas with a strong work ethic and commitment. He is devoted to public service in politics, civics, and civil rights. Perry has established a reputation built on his leadership, integrity, and community outreach, gaining a first-hand understanding of how to effectively assess the fight for justice.
Tremele is married to his college sweetheart, Janay, and they are the proud parents of two young boys. When not hard at work with clients and in the community, he enjoys coaching his son’s t-ball team, civil rights history, listening to music, and traveling to new places. He considers being a husband and father to be his greatest accomplishments.
